Entrepreneurship: developing different communication tools

Summary

Conducting a team project until its completion involves not only the development of know-how and know-how-to-be, but also the ability to present and share it.

This module proposes some axes to develop the let-know. It is about creating different media and communication tools.
It will be supplemented with elements to prepare as a team a trip or a meeting abroad.

Description

Part 1: Write an article for the press

Duration: 4 x 30 min sessions

Age: from age 8
Competencies:

The pupils are able to:

  • plan and organize;
  • working in teams, make choices, accept choices that are not their own;
  • enhance and share skills; get recognition, find their place, help each other;
  • get involved and communicate; take initiative, suggest, advise;
  • learn and master writing for the press;
  • write a ten line text.


Description:  

  1. Identify the article’s characteristics (to inform, promote, relate)
  2. Determine the essence of the message
  3. Write an article in groups of 2, photos of work
  4. Rewriting exercises (spelling, syntax, vocabulary), examples of rewriting
  5. Reading and reasoned choice

Part 2: Participate in a radio broadcast

Age: from age 8
Duration: 3 x 30 min

Competencies:

The pupils are able to:

  • clear oral expression;
  • communicate for an event.

Description :  

  1. Training in speaking on a subject and in various situations
  2. Identify the important components communicated in the message, (date, place, highlights, …)
  3. Make a presentation to other partners in the project
  4. Training in communication (articulation, speed, intensity)
  5. Videos for presentation to other partners in the project

Part 3: Create posters

 Competencies:

The pupils are able to:

  • plan and organize;
  • work in teams, make choices, accept choices that are not their own;
  • enhance and share skills; have recognition, find their place, help each other;
  • get involved and communicate; take initiative, suggest, advise.

Description:

  • Step 1: Identify performance criteria by looking at posters (to inform, promote, raise awareness, draw the eye)
  • Step 2: Design a (model) poster in groups
  • Step 3: Presentation by each group of each project; approval
  • Step 4: Each group identifies its needs and lists the materials needed
  • Step 5: Work in groups on posters
  • Step 6: Present the agreed choice of poster for the performance; choose the destination for other posters made for communication targets, other than the show

Part 4: Travelling to a meeting

Prepare for travel: what to do before, during and after

Age: from age 8

Competencies:

The pupils are able to:

  • plan and anticipate;
  • write communications: report, photo captions.

Description:

Before the trip:

  • Study a map to find out about the city, where to stay, possible routes
  • Study vocabulary, find phrases that could be used with the other class
  • Choose games to teach the other class

During the trip:

  • Event log (internet) for consultation by parents with captioned pictures, minutes of each day: to be written by a group of students, daily

After the trip :

  • Write a newspaper article describing the trip

Part 5: Meeting students from other countries

Age: from age 8

Competencies:

The pupils are able to:

  • introduce themselves, present their locality, school, customs;
  • get involved and communicate;
  • discover the other, their locality;
  • speak a foreign language.

Description:

  • Write a personal introductory letter and a collective letter to introduce the class, its city, country, customs
  • Read out mail received from the other class, possibly study their customs, in parallel with the geography of the two countries
  • Exchange several letters during the course of the year
  • Possibly produce a video presentation
